This is a truly once in a lifetime ride! Starting at SRAM’s new Canada office in Vancouver, BC and heading southeast to the Quarq facility in Spearfish, South Dakota, it features some of the most breathtaking scenery in North America. Riders will cross the Rocky Mountains in the Canada and US, 3 National Parks- Yellowstone, the Grand Tetons, and Glacier (including Going to the Sun Road), plus the Black Hills of South Dakota. Among the cities along the way are Vancouver, BC; Missoula, Montana; and Deadwood, SD. The route traverses 6 states and British Columbia, plus numerous state and provincial parks as well as national forests, trails, and wildlife refuges. The vast majority of the route is paved, but participants should anticipate some sections of gravel/unpaved roads.
This is planned as a primary self-supported “credit card touring” type event, with nightly lodging but riders must carry their own supplies (you will be able to stage replenishments along the route). The total route covers nearly 2000 miles (3100km) with a little over 100,000 feet (31,000m) of climbing. Planning approximately 2 weeks means a daily average of about 130 miles and 7000 feet of climbing a day.
