This is a truly once in a lifetime ride! It features some of the most breathtaking scenery in North America in 3 National Parks- Yellowstone, Grand Teton, and Glacier. Highlights include starting the ride on Going to the Sun Road in Glacier National Park; Missoula, Montana; Jackson Hole, Wyoming; and numerous national forests, trails, and wildlife refuges. The vast majority of the route is paved, but participants should anticipate a few sections of gravel/unpaved roads. The route will utilize portions of Adventure Cycling’s Transamerica and Great Parks North routes, and totals approximately 750 miles (1200km), with 36,000 ft (11,000m) of climbing, and 4 climbs over 1500 ft (450m).
This is planned as a primary self-supported “credit card touring” type event, with nightly lodging but riders must carry their own supplies (you will be able to stage replenishments along the route). Participants can decide whether to ride solo or in small groups, but we anticipate 10-12 riders at most.
If you have a non-cycling significant other, have them join you at the beginning or end of the trip for some additional National Park exploration. Meeting up along the route is also an option.
